We take a look at the 10 Venues & 85 performances that will make up this fantastic weekend of FREE live music across the pubs, clubs, bars & pop-up stages in Looe, SE Cornwall.

Looe Weekender is a unique music event, organised by a group from the Town’s licensed trade, restaurants & clubs – bringing collectively more than 100 hours of FREE live music – showcasing great local & regional tallent.

Something For Everyone

Whether you like a choir or heavy metal, samba or opera – Looe Weekender has it all.

The eclectic line-up kicks off on Thursday 14th with three gigs to get you into the spirit of what’s to come over the following days.

Thursday 14th

The Globe Inn (Station Road, East Looe) – have Nik Ward kicking things off at 3pmThe Bullers Arms (Buller Street, East Looe) – gets everyone into the party spirit from 8.30pm with their Shite NiteThe Ship Inn (Fore Street, East Looe) – introduce Division, Looe’s very own rock-indie band from 9pm.

Friday 15th

There’s something taking place in 9 of the 10 venues today – starting at 10am at the Hannafore Beach Kiosk (Marine Drive, Hannafore) with local choir Sing Rock. There’s a great range of music, food & drink on offer until 8.30pm – a fantastic location overlooking the beach, bay & Looe Island.

From 1pm, West Looe Quay Stage (Quayside Centre, West Looe Quay) comes alive with the stomp-you-feet sea shanties of The Polperro Wreckers; followed by a line-up of 7 different acts through to the 9-10.30pm set from Wireless. West Looe Quay Stage is a collaboration between The Jolly Sailor Inn & Route2 Events, with a fantastic stage, PA & lighting within the Quayside Centre.

The Fishermans Arms (Higher Market Street, East Looe) kick off their line-up from 2pm with Black Friday. Mighty Pumpkins & Bache follow, through to 10pm.

3pm – the stage is set at The Ship Inn (Fore Street, East Looe) with push through. Raikes at 6pm & Pitch Black are on stage next at 9pm till late. From 4pm The Globe Inn (Station Road, East Looe) have Clatters followed by Richard James.

Marley White, a popular local cover artist, is at the Golden Guinea (Fore Street, East Looe) from 5.30pm

At the Bullers Arms (Fore Street, East Looe) – Mellow Doubt take to the floor at 6pm before NaffKo54 raise the tempo & volume at 9pm. The evening sees a fantastic DJ set from JEM Sessions at JJs Sports Bar (Fore Street, East Looe) from 8.30pm;  Firebird at Looe Social Club (The Quay, West Looe).

Saturday 16th

Today all 10 venues bring fantastic music from from 10am through to 10.30pm – a full day’s entertainment on both side of the river to enjoy.

Ease your way into the day from 10am-Noon with Jazz Shed at the Hannafore Beach Kiosk (Marine Drive, Hannafore) where the line up runs through to Josh Taylor 6-8pm.

Over in the Lions Club Marquee (taking place under the fish market on the quayside, East Looe) – from 1.30pm local soloist Juliet Doolan opens proceedings with three other acts ending with a 90 min set from the Huckleberry Finns from 4pm. Just 100 metres away in the Bullers Arms (Buller Street, East Looe) MorZim kick off the afternoon at 1.30pm; followed by great sets from favourites Dew Barf, Mighty Howlers & closing the day at 9.30pm with Dusk at Dawn.

West Looe Quay Stage (The Quayside Centre, West Looe)  have another 7 great sets today… kicking off with FTW Ronson at Noon and closing the day from 9-10.30pm with Dr Oz. Staying along the quayside in West Looe; Looe Social Club bring guitarist & harmony duo Nick of Time from 2.30pm and back to the 60’s/70’s in the evening with Mod Life Krisis from 9pm.

Fishermans Arms (Higher Market Street, East Looe) start the afternoon at 2pm with Bache & Co, with JD Maskell & Marley White performing late afternoon through to 10pm. Golden Guinea have the fabulous James Shed 3-5pm and DJ Ian Harrison & live PA Shelley Smith from 6-8.30pm

The Ship Inn (Fore Street, East Looe) bring you Pork Chop with a Cider Banjo at 3pm leading into two fantastic sets from BandEkoot at 6pm and Ex-Presidents from 9pm.

Local band Division give their second East Looe performance of the weekend at JJ’s Sports Bar (Fore Street, East Looe) from 8.30pm and at the same time. The Globe Inn (Station Road, East Looe), have the Horizons from 8.30pm 

Sunday 17th

Hannafore Beach Kiosk (Marine Drive, Hannafore) starts off Sunday with local soloist Leon Harvey at 10am. With an eclectic line up all day long, the evening session from 6pm sees NobHeadZ who encourage you to sing along and even bring your own instruments & join in!

From Noon, at the Lions Club Marquee (under the fish marketing on the quayside, East Looe) –  local choir Just Voices are followed by a great line-up including Samba Kernow, Juliet Doolan, Tom Sadler, and closing from 5pm with the Cornish Groove Collective.

The Red Howlers start the Bullers Arms (Buller Street, East Looe) Sunday sessions at 1.30pm; followed by three great bands, with Mustard, Cyderfex & finishing their weekend with Monique in ya Pocket. 

West Looe Quay Stage (The Quayside Centre, West Looe) set list of 7 acts start a Noon with Lily Ward – with KEO, High Voltage, Taylor Trio, Russell Sinclair – and finishing with the fantastic Daddy Longlegs who close the weekend in West Looe from 9-10.15pm.

Further along the quayside, Looe Social Club have both an afternoon session at 3pm with Bottle Blondie and then at 9pm, their Looe Weekender sets close with Simon Gee.

Fishermans Arms (Higher Market Street, East Looe) kick off the afternoon at 2pm with Bache, with JD Maskell & Marley White perform late afternoon through to the closing act from 7pm with Black Friday. Golden Guinea bring you sax on a Sunday with DJ Ian Harrison & Paul Haywood on Sax, a perfect combo with your Sunday afternoon cocktails between 3-6pm.

The Ship Inn (Fore Street, East Looe) bring you The 3rd Wheel at 3pm with two superb evening sets with Vicious Kitten at 6pm and Sons of Autumn 9pm.

Up on Station Road, The Globe Inn have Bucket List from 3.30pm and close the weekend at 7pm with the fan favourites The Busketeers. JJ’s Sports Bar (Fore Street, East Looe) have DJ Set by Mr Flexxx from 9pm 

 

Getting To Looe & Parking

Arriving by train? There’s a direct service from Liskeard to Looe (30 mins, £5.60 return) which links to the mainline services (Penzance-Paddington). We have summarised the weekend train times here on the event’s Facebook page.

Getting From Venue to Venue

With 3 Venues in West Looe & 7 in East Looe, all of the venues are within walking distance of each other. The further two venues apart being from The Globe Inn to the Hannafore Beach Kiosk which is around a 15-20 min walk. PLEASE NOTE – a late change to Venue 5 (the Rose Garden) it is move just 100 metres to underneath the fish market on the quayside. 

On the 14th, 15th & 16th, you can take advantage of the Looe Land Train which links the main Millpool Car Park to East Looe, West Looe & Hannafore (operating from 11-4pm)

There is a passenger ferry which, for just £1, takes you from the West Looe Quay Stage (and just 100 metres from Looe Social Club) to the centre of East Looe & just feet away from many of the venues.

Great Food & Drink

You wont find food & drink stalls at the Looe Weekender as you have everything you’ll need within each venue & on their doorstep, with a fantastic range of cafes, restaurants, pubs & bars around the Town.
