Talland
Located between Polperro & Looe, the parish of Talland has been a firm favourite with both locals & visitors down the years… no visit to SE Cornwall is complete without spending some time in this most stunning of Cornish bays.
An hours walk from Polperro & 90 mins from Looe, along the SW Coast Path, you have wonderful vistas all around you as you approach Talland Bay from either direction.
What’s to See & Do?
The natural beauty, for many, is what Talland is all about. Lazy summer days on the beach (dog friendly year-round); rock pooling, snorkelling, enjoying a cream tea or crab sandwich… or making Talland a destination for your stay in one of the beautifully appointed accommodations.
Whilst many arrive on foot along the SW Coast Path, there is a car park (adjacent to the Talland Bay Beach Cafe) where you can also hire kayaks for a paddle to explore the foreshore – you might even spot a pod of dolphins or a grey seal along your way.
Talland Church dates to the 13th century and is a haven of peace and reflection. The church is also an ideal place to get married ahead of holding your ceremony & wedding celebration at the Talland Bay Hotel.
Where to Stay
For a truly luxurious & immersive stay, the idyllically positioned Talland Bay Hotel sits in an elevated position in Porthallow, above Talland Bay. With beautifully appointed bedrooms, a 2 AA Rosette restaurant and lawned gardens with unsurpassed sea views… the Hotel is also an exceptional place to hold your wedding or ceremony.
If you enjoy self-catering accommodation, The Bay, Talland offers a wide choice of fantastically appointed modern cottages, that can accommodate between 6 and 10 guests. In addition to the accommodation, there are excellent facilities for residents which include an indoor 12m by 6m pool, gym and sauna, together with a relaxing lounge… and this perfect place to stay is but a short stroll from the beach.
For families, the nearby Kiligarth Manor is a family park which has a mixture of static caravans & lodges to enjoy. With great onsite facilities, the park, part of family-owned John Fowler Holidays, is perfectly positioned with far-reaching coastal views and easy access to both Talland Bay & nearby Polperro.
… and if you are looking for a getaway just for two, the aptly named Hideaway is just for you. Imagine sitting on the private deck where you have a commanding view over the tower of Talland Church to the bay beyond. The perfect bolt hole.
Where to Eat & Drink
The aforementioned Talland Bay Hotel is an excellent choice for both long-lazy lunches, afternoon teas as well as sumptuous dinners. All of the dining facilities are open to non-residence, year-round.
Right alongside the Beach, Talland Bay Beach Cafe is an excellent choice for light bites, cream teas & coffee & cake.. their crab sandwiches are legendary, plus they have a great selection of drinks & a well-stocked beach shop too.
