Award-winning, eco-friendly and regularly featured on TV, it’s fair to say a Railholiday break has something for everyone, whether you happen to be an avid trainspotter or not.
Your Choice of 4 Carriages
Each of Railholiday’s four charmingly restored carriages has it’s own special character. There’s also the bonus of ten acres of private woodland, with snowdrop walk and nature trail, perfect for wildlife-lovers or four-legged friends.
If you love watching trains, then the Travelling Post Office or the Old Luggage Van, with fully enclosed gardens with trackside views, are perfect. Set below the station at St Germans with glorious vistas over rolling countryside are Mevy and Millpool.
Mevy is a sumptuous conversion. The master bedroom features gilded mahogany panelling and velvet-lined walls, while a second room has an artisan-made triple bunkbed for smaller people.
Millpool is perfect for anyone with mobility challenges. Fully-equipped for wheelchair users, this former Victorian brake carriage has plenty of character, with ducket windows overlooking an enclosed terrace, garden and outdoor brazier.
Pets are welcome in all carriages except Mevy.
Year-Round Comfort
In addition to electric heating, there are wood-burners in the Travelling Post Office and the Old Luggage Van (an unlimited supply of wood is included). Mevy and Millpool have effective central heating, making all carriages perfect for a break at any time of year.
As well as the restored carriages, we also have some awaiting restoration. History enthusiasts might like to see the carriage we are currently working on; a saloon built for Queen Victoria in 1897.
Only four miles from the coast, St Germans is a beautiful riverside village, with well-stocked community shop, pub, cafe and bar, and an excellent train service.
Railholiday offer a carbon-savers discount of £50 off for all guests who arrive by train, or live in Cornwall or Devon.
