Ellie’s Haven is a charity providing holidays to families caring for children with long term and life limiting medical conditions and disabilities. It was created by Julie and Nigel Libby to carry on the legacy of their daughter Ellie and to help and support other families that also have children with similar life long conditions.
Our Holiday Haven in Duloe, Nr Looe
Their goal is to help such families spend quality time together away from their normal surroundings. The “special place for special children” is a holiday haven in a peaceful, secluded location in Duloe, near Looe and is equipped with built-in hoists, an assisted bath and other facilities.
Their sensory studio is an Aladdin’s cave of specialised equipment aimed at helping children with special needs develop a wide range of skills. This is available to hire, please contact Kirsty at Ellie’s Haven to arrange this.
Recently Merged with Kids in Action
Ellie’s Haven recently merged with Dunstable based charity ‘Kids in Action’ after Julie and Nigel stepped down and took a well deserved retirement. Kids in Action was founded in 1995 and provides support and social opportunities to children and adults with special needs.
Their aim is to make a positive difference to each individual, encouraging participation in social activities, in a safe, non-judgemental environment as many experience isolation and loneliness.
Similar to Ellie’s Haven they also provide holidays for families that have a member with a disability, they now have a fleet of 4 caravans at Caister on Sea and a large house at No Man’s Land in Looe.
