Captain’s House (formerly known as Foam Cottage) was remodelled by Captain Skentelbury in 1880 as a Victorian style town house, but the original building probably dates back to the 17th century or even earlier. Captain’s House is an elegant three-storey town house with a seaside cottage feel. Over the years, as well as being a holiday cottage, the house has also served as a cafe (called the Coffee Pot), and a hairdresser’s salon.

Captain’s House features high ceilings and a regular staircase, making it unusual for a Cornish cottage. It has a fully fitted kitchen with dining area, a cosy lounge plus two spacious bedrooms, each with its own bathroom (one with a walk-in shower and the second with a large luxury bath). Each bedroom is on its own level with the bathrooms adjacent, effectively making both rooms en suite. Captain’s House was completely renovated in 2016, bringing it right up to date with central heating, free broadband wifi networked throughout the house, and effective soundproofing.

The Perfect Holiday Cottage

Captain’s House is located in the heart of East Looe with its wealth of independent shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants. It is just a 1-minute walk from the beach and pier and there is easy access to the world-renowned South West Coast Path.
