Shrimpy’s

Shrimpy’s is a sustainable fashion social enterprise in Looe that functionally provides, educates and connects the community in the form of a hand illustrated children’s merchandise brand.

Shrimpy’s aim to:

  • Produce quality children’s clothing based around the fundamentals of Looe, using hand illustrative embroidery to encapsulate seaside intimacy.
  • Connect consumers to the nature within Looe through a locally designed operational output focussing on the relationship between human and nature.
  • Educate and export knowledge regarding sustainability and its positive effects on our environment.
  • Preserve and protect our marine environment and cultural distinctiveness.

Founder of Shrimpy’s, Alice, told us “Our key aims have always been to develop products that create a positive impact on our community. However, these keepsake pieces are wonderful to purchase as gifts or to remember your holidays to Looe by. Each garment is entwined with coastal intimacy for the most unique feel.” ~ Alice, Founder of Shrimpy’s, Looe.

Hi! I’m a full time artist working from my studio by the coast in Hannafore, Looe.

As a mixed media artist I use a variety of mediums; including collage, paint and dry media to create multi-layered paintings. My inspiration comes from living in Cornwall and it’s coast, landscape, flora and fauna.  Studio visits are always welcome by appointment (phone or email first in case I’m out with the dogs or having a swim) come along for a chat and to see what I’m up to.

Janice Ashworth

With a background in fine art, I always regarded myself as a painter, but discovering fused glass moved my skills to a different level.

Welly Dog

I still work 2 dimensionally but with more texture and understanding of how light works with both transparent and opaque surfaces.

My fused glass is eclectic, I’m inspired by the different landscapes that Cornwall has to offer, the coast around Polperro features heavily in my work along with where I live, up on the edges of Bodmin moor.

Welly dog

I love painting glass and mixing it with fused glass textures to make one off pictures and panels. I also make unique fused glass bunting, candle holders, light catchers and dishes,  in a variety of colours and designs. I also adore making fused glass dichroic jewellery and miniature seascape necklaces.

I sell exclusively though our shop, Welly Dog, in Polperro and on my own website. Visiting our shop couldn’t  be easier, take a lovely stroll down from the car park, along the river and we are one of the first shops you will see  on the left hand side.  For the latest updates and makes visits our Facebook page or Instagram

Wicks from the West

I am Looe born and bred and very proud of my heritage, hence some of my candles are Looe themed.

I started designing and making individual hand poured candles and wax melts from my home in Looe, Cornwall about a year ago and my little business has grown from then.

I use soy wax which is a much healthier alternative to paraffin wax, and gives a cleaner and longer burn. I use good quality fragrance oils, always using the maximum recommended so I get a good cold and hot throw (obviously some fragrances are stronger than others).

If you are looking for a gift for a friend, relative etc why not take a look at my new website to buy from me direct. Follow me on Instagram and Facebook for new products added and special offers.

All of my candles and melts can be bought on my website. You can follow me on both Facebook & Instagram and Email me with any questions.

Mrs Marvellous – the Memory Maker

Textile Artist, designer/maker and quilt maker

Mrs Marvelous

Creativity runs throughout the family, as does the value of doing a job properly – “if a job’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well” was heard regularly when growing up – so attention to detail is second nature.

With a dislike for waste of any kind, giving textiles more than one life is the very least I can do.  We only have one planet, that needs respect and care so creating pieces ethically is high on my list of priorities.
