SE Cornwall has some great producers & suppliers. Shopping local would be really appreciated to help support our independent retailers and we hope this guide will help you in choosing where to shop for your essential supplies, and those little extra holiday treats!
East Looe
In East Looe, you’ll find a great variety of food shops. Purely Cornish is the place to visit to stock up on local produce – from cheeses to gin, clotted cream to apple juice – all made in Cornwall.
Just across the Harbour Carpark, you will find the farm shop Quayside Fresh (also the Post Office) and a short walk along the quay to the famous Pengelly’s fishmongers. You can also pre-order fish & shellfish from Nippers.
For bread, cakes, pasties & scones – just a few feet apart you’ll find Looe Bakery and Martin’s Dairy.
For general shopping, there are two Co-Op stores, both located on Fore Street (one closer to the Bridge, the other near the Guildhall).
Parking in the Harbour Carpark is convenient for all the above mentioned shops – however, during peak season spaces are in high demand and the nearest parking is a 10 min walk away at the Millpool Carpark.
Located on the Barbican area of East Looe, you will also find the Premier Stores (which has limited parking).
West Looe
There are two shops in West Looe which are well stocked with day to day provisions. West Looe General Stores (Londis) and the Spar shop are located within one hundred metres of each other.
There is extremely limited parking in West Looe by either shop. Parking is located 200 metres away along West Looe Quay
(Please note, the marker on the map for the Londis store is incorrectly shown on the above link. Their postal address is Fore Street, West Looe, PL13 2EZ)
Polperro
For some of the best bread around, Pedyr’s Bakehouse is the place to go and they post weekly specials on their Facebook page. Polperro News is the village’s grocery store for all your essential shopping. The Good Life has a deli and a great selection of beers wines & spirits.
There is also the fabulous Kitty’s Lobster, Crab & Seafood Shack who sell ready to eat seafood, lobsters, crabs, seafood platters, smoked fish and wet fish and they offer free local delivery in Polperro.
Remember that parking in Polperro is limited to the main car park (unless your accommodation has private parking).
Pelynt
Whether you are staying near Pelynt, or passing through to Looe & Polperro, there is a well stocked Spar shop which also facilitates a weekly (Friday mornings) pop up fish stall from Nippers in Looe. Pelynt Convenience Stores (Premier Stores) is also well stocked and also has the well-regarded local butchers O’Keeffe Both stores have the convenience of onsite parking.
There is a new take-away offering in the village too, the Old School Shack – serving breakfasts & burgers.
If you are staying in nearby Lanreath, you’ll find the Lanreath Village Shop & Post Office. To the east of Looe (Millendreath, Seaton & Downderry) – drop into Tredinnick Farm Shop which also has a wonderful cafe (serving great breakfasts!)
Duloe
The village of Duloe, home to food-serving pub The Plough, has a number of self-catering properties. It’s where your will find the fabulous Cornish Orchards and is a great little village just 10 mins from Looe. Here you will find the Duloe Community Shop which is a great facility from which you can also pre-order items for collection by calling 01503 265592.

Supermarkets
We fully appreciate that, if you are travelling as a family or with a group of friends, you may need to undertake a sizeable shop on arrival, for your self-catering stay.
On entering Cornwall via the Tamar Bridge, in the town of Saltash, you will find a Waitrose supermarket (you are roughly 30 mins from Looe & Polperro if you need to consider frozen items).
Closer to Looe/Polperro (20 mins) in Liskeard, you will find both an Aldi & Morrisons.
