Welcome to a brand new event for 2024, “On The Water – Looe & Polperro” – celebrating & promoting the fantastic range of activities, both on & in the water, around our coastline, harbours & river; kindly sponsored by Black Dog Marine.
There can be few places in the UK that offer such a great variety of water sports, boat & fishing trips as the SE Cornwall Coast. From a lazy trip up the Looe River, to full throttle to the Eddystone Lighthouse, there’s a boat trip just for you; for those who love fishing – whether’s it’s a short mackerel fishing trip with the family, to a full-days’ reef of shark fishing we’ve got that covered too….and from kayaking to paddle boarding to trying out an Aquabike, you can make a splash on a range of water sports.
So whether you’ve always said you’d love to visit Looe Island, like to gaze under the waters from a Glass Bottom Boat, to experiencing the amazing water sport of E-Foiling; On The Water – Looe & Polperro has something for everyone to try.
One Week – So Many Water-Based Experiences
Running from Friday 14th June until Friday 21st June, the week will commence with another brand new event, the Made In Looe Regatta which will feature boats, once built in Looe, coming together as a celebration of the boat-building heritage of the port.
With a programme of entertainment & live music at the Quayside Centre in West Looe, as well as the boats moored alongside, it promised to be a great weekend. On Sunday 16th, the Looe Raft Race (organised by Looe Boat Owner’s Association & Looe RNLI) will take place with the race from the beach, around the Banjo Pier & up the river.
For more entertainment, in Polperro, it’s the start of the fantastic Polperro Festival which brings together a week-long line up of live music in the pubs, cafes, streets & stage (set up on the Big Green).
From Monday 17th, there will be a host of experiences for individuals & families to get involved with; from one on one lessons for different water sports, to opportunities to get afloat on a boat to view our coastline, harbours & river, getting up close to nature and the incredible local sea & birdlife.
How Do I Know What’s On, When & Where?
We will be publicising a day by day activity planner to help you choose what trips & water sports you’d like to book. Some will be turn up & try and others you will need to book.
We will let you know what time boat trips are running & to where – so you can choose from going around the Island, to Polperro, or up the Looe River. We’ll also let you know all of the fishing trips that are leaving our ports that week, their duration & what the catch of the day might be.
In addition, listings on the What’s On & Events pages will be added so that you can view what’s on day by day & even download to your own device.
Keep an eye on this page, as well as our Facebook page for further updates & information.
