Pelynt Trelawny Fair will return to the school playing field on Sunday 2nd, July and will include stalls selling local produce, competitions, a vintage funfair, BBQ, Tipsy Cow Bar, local community groups and live entertainment.

This entertaining competition was won by Ben Palmer in 2019 and will be a memorable sight to many of you; participants try to toss the sheaf with the pitchfork over the ever-increasing in height- crossbar until one participant remains victorious. Everyone is welcome to compete. So, roll up to the Trelawny Fair on the 2nd of July for a fun day for all the family, and who knows, this year’s winner could be you!

Although the origins of this game remain a mystery, it was reintroduced in 1977 as the Golden Jubilee Ball and is based on the shot put. In 2019, Ben Palmer emerged victorious with an impressive throw of 52 feet, surpassing the previous record set by Leon Harvey.

Throughout the years, Pelynt Fairs has witnessed numerous throwing competitions. The Rolling Pin competition held in 1953 stands out as particularly unforgettable. The women participating in this event displayed such unwavering determination that the judges had no choice but to retreat to a safe distance.

Calling all preschool and primary school-aged children, it’s time to showcase your creativity and embrace the farming theme in the Pelynt Trelawny Fair Fancy Dress Competition.

The possibilities are endless! Whether you want to be your favourite farm animal, a buzzing insect, a friendly scarecrow, a chirpy bird, a hardworking farmer, a blooming plant, a happy milkmaid, or a watchful shepherd, let your imagination roam freely and bring your farm-inspired character to life.

Once again, The Higher Beings Circus will be the judges, and the winners will be awarded prizes of Amazon Vouchers worth £15, £10, and £5. The winners’ announcement will take place at 13.10 on the school field, so be sure to join us and cheer on your friends!
