Talk & Meet with Looe Marine Conservation Group
March 19 @ 6:15 pm - 8:15 pm
Fathoms Free are a group of marine conservationists and divers who gather the abandoned and lost fishing gear from our shores and seabed. This includes nets, crab pots and hooks, some of which can survive for hundreds of years under water. Apart from polluting our waters, this ghost fishing gear poses a threat to marine life that can become entangled. John Kent, Chair of Fathoms Free, will speak on their work removing the gear, raising awareness and the steps they take to recycle.
The talk will be followed by our in-person monthly meeting to which all are welcome. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. This is a FREE event but donations to Looe Marine Conservation Group are welcome. Please check our website (www.looemarineconservation.org) and Facebook page (www.facebook.com/LooeMCG) closer to the time of the event for the most up to date information.
