Shoresearch Training – Hannafore Point Hotel
January 28 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Shoresearch is The Wildlife Trusts’ national citizen science survey of the rocky shore, the exciting world of extremes where the sea meets the land. It’s a great way to explore your local coast, learn more about the wildlife found there and add to our understanding of this important habitat. We’re looking for a team of local volunteers to help set up regular surveys in the Looe area.
Booking is ESSENTIAL for this FREE training event – please call Matt Nott on 07539 530020 to secure your space soon. You will need to bring suitable clothing and footwear (grippy boots/shoes you don’t mind getting wet), lunch/money for the local café. The morning session will take place in the Hannafore Point Hotel with the practical afternoon session on the beach.
Volunteers are trained by marine biologists to identify and record the wildlife on our shores. The data collected by this project helps experts to monitor our fragile marine life and better understand the effects of pollution, climate change and invasive species. Shoresearch data has been key to designating many of our Marine Conservation Zones (MCZ), including the Looe-Whitsand Bay MCZ.
