ISYLA formed in 2020 after two near strangers a generation apart, Lizzie Freeborn (21) and Amy Woodburn (41) decided over a coffee to pool their strengths and create music together.
Their songs offer a musical response to a fragile world. Multi-instrumentalist Ashley Height joined the line up this year, with Height’s sensitive and skilled approach to guitar arrangements making ISYLA’s acoustic set a joy to experience.
Well-crafted, sweetly sweeping song writing, delicate grooves, sultry vocals and arresting harmonies, their sound enjoys folk and roots influences with an ethereal edge. Song writing crosses genres with eclectic influences ranging from Aurora and London Grammar to Rufus Wainwright, early Radiohead and sturdy greats Carol King and Joni Michell. ISYLA refer to their music as ‘Love Bomb Artivism’ hoping to embrace and inspire their listeners through song.
